Expedition includes a half day rafting in Browns Canyon.
The WSW Girls’ Trip offers young women the opportunity to realize their strengths and overcome challenges in a wilderness environment. This trip is designed to meet the needs of all participants; from first time campers to seasoned outdoors women. The first night will be spent in a low-key “car camping” environment. This allows participants an opportunity to ease into the week, form relationships and develop basic camping skills (like going to the bathroom outside!). The next two days and nights are spent backpacking a beautiful, moderate route in the South Park Valley. The trip will culminate with white water rafting in Brown’s Canyon, a fireside ceremony and party on our final evening together. Skills introduced include orienteering with compass and GPS, shelter building, cooking on a camp stove/campfire, fire building, and responsible wilderness travel. Interwoven into all activities is an emphasis on self confidence, assertiveness and resilience. Activities are chosen based on weather conditions and group dynamics. Lead guide on this trip is Lisa Conte, Licensed Professional Counselor and outdoor lover.
